Yesterday saw some of the biggest crowds Collegiate Cycling has ever seen with the Mens and Women’s criterium taking place in the heart of Richmond, Virginia. Our FLC Skyhawks did great, with aggressive racing from the gun in the Mens race and a early crash splitting the field in the Women’s race. Sophomore Dean Hass rode off the front of the race on lap four and solo’d for almost an hour. The crowd and the announcers giving him love each lap he whizzed by. He eventually got caught with four laps to go, and in the end a Lindenwood rider out sprinted Marian’s defending champion for the win. For the Ladies it was Ivie Crawford who made the front group and rode aggressive, in one of her best nationals efforts ever. In the end she couldn’t match the power that defending champ from Marian and rode in to 22nd place. Despite not making the podium, the Skyhawks had a blast and had some good race experiences.
Ladies Results– Ive Crawford 22nd, Jenna MacPherson 30th, Sydney Edmonson 54th, Maddie Chavez 58th
Men’s Results– Renan Maia 10th, Griffen Easter 14th, Zack Noonan 22nd, Dean Haas 69th
Omnium after day 2– 1st Marain, 2nd UC Davis, 3rd Lindenwood, 4th Fort Lewis College, 5th Stanford
