The Fort Lewis College Foundation and the Fort Lewis College Cycling Team are proud to announce Brennan Buiso as the first recipient of the Stan Rabbe Memorial Cycling Scholarship for the 2015-16 academic year.
Mr. Rabbe passed away on January 21, 2015, of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease, at the age of 65. He was an avid cyclist and runner and influenced many youths in Durango as a Middle/High School teacher, coach and counselor from 1984 until his retirement in 2002. It was his wish that a scholarship fund be set up for local cyclists attending Fort Lewis College while competing for the Cycling Team.
Brennan Buiso is a Durango local going into his Senior year at Fort Lewis College majoring in Business Administration. Brennan grew up racing BMX in Durango while also competing in bigger regional and national races. He joined FLC Cycling when BMX was added as a Collegiate cycling discipline in 2013 as a committed athlete and student. At the 2015 USA Cycling Collegiate BMX National Championships Brennan earned FLC’s best ever finish in the Division 1 Men’s race with a 10th place finish in a field of many Olympic hopefuls.
Brennan will serve as the lead pacer of “Stan the Marathon Man’s Alzheimer’s 5K Walk/Run” to benefit the Durango Alzheimer’s Association, which is scheduled for Saturday August 15th, 2015 at Santa Rita Park in Durango at 9am. For more information and to register: Click Here
